'Spitting image of Steve': Robert Irwin turns heads with photo that looks just like late dad

Robert Irwin, the 16-year-old son of late zookeeper and TV personality Steve Irwin, looks just like his dad in a new photo.

In an Instagram post shared Tuesday, Robert is seen cuddling a koala, wearing his family's signature khaki. He captioned the photo with heart and koala emojis.

His followers were quick to point out that the shot made him look especially like Steve, who died in 2006 at age 44 from a stingray attack while working on the underwater film "Ocean's Deadliest." In a series of sweet comments, fans noted the likeness and sent their well-wishes to his family.

"You look so much like your dad in this picture," @pvhammer wrote with a heart emoji. "You and your family are wonderful!"

"You have never looked more like your father than you do in this picture," commented @breanana. "And your smile radiates that."

"I had to do a double take I thought this was an old picture of your dad for a minute," echoed @kodee_lpn. "You look so much like him. I know he is so proud of you, the rest of the world sure is!"

This isn't the first time Robert has channeled his Crocodile Hunter dad. In another Instagram post last summer, he was photographed feeding a crocodile with a side-by-side photo of Steve doing so the same way.

"Dad and me feeding Murray," Robert captioned a side-by-side comparison of himself and his famous father feeding the large reptile. "Same place, same croc — two photos 15 years apart ❤️"

The Irwin family, Robert, his older sister, Bindi, and their mom, Terri, has continued Steve's legacy in the animal kingdom, working at the Australia Zoo and starring in the Animal Planet series "Crikey! It’s the Irwins."

Bindi, 21, also recently celebrated an exciting milestone: She and her longtime boyfriend, Chandler Powell, got engaged last summer on her birthday. She spent the day at her favorite place, the Australia Zoo, when Powell proposed.

"I Immediately fell head over heels for her kind and thoughtful heart that radiates so much light," Powell wrote in his own Instagram post. "Proposing in her very favorite place in the zoo, surrounded by animals, seemed like the perfect way to embark on this incredible new chapter in our lives. Bee, I love you more than anything in this world and I always will. Happy Birthday."

Irwin said in an interview with People afterward she's grateful to find a person with qualities that remind her of her father: “He loves wildlife and conservation and he has this strength," she said of Powell. "Which is necessary when you’re jumping on crocs."

Her mother called it the "best day ever": "Chandler asked and beautiful @BindiIrwin said yes," she tweeted. "I am so very happy, and I know Steve would be too."
