All's well in the Spider-verse! Tom Holland's Peter Parker will remain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Disney and Sony announcing on Friday that they will be working together to bring a third Spider-Man film to audiences.
Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige will produce Spider-Man 3, which is set to be released on July 16, 2021, while Holland will also appear in a future, as-yet-revealed Marvel Studios film.
"I am thrilled that Spidey's journey in the MCU will continue and, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it," Feige said in a statement. "Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spider-Verse you never know what surprises the future might hold."
"Peter Parker's story took a dramatic turn in Far From Home and I could not be happier we will all be working together as we see where his journey goes," producer Amy Pascal added.
To celebrate the news, Holland posted a clip from Wolf of Wall Street to Instagram, showing Leonardo DiCaprio's character shouting, "I'm not leaving! I'm not f**king leaving! The show goes on!"
Zendaya also responded to the news by tweeting a dancing Spider-Man GIF.
Holland starred as the web slinger in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming and 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home, plus appearances in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.
In August, it was announced that Spider-Man might be exiting the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At the time, Sony released a statement saying the studio was "disappointed" by Disney's decision to not have Feige continue as a producer on future Spider-Man films. Holland addressed the conflict at D23, telling the crowd, "I want you to know that I'm grateful from the bottom of my heart, and I love you 3,000."
