‘I Spent 19 Years And 10 Months In Prison For A Crime That I Absolutely Did Not Commit,’ Claims Keira Newsome

“I spent 19 years and 10 months in prison for a crime that I absolutely did not commit,” declares Kiera Newsome. When she was 17 years old, Kiera, a straight-A student, was convicted of murdering Christian Henton during a drive-by shooting and sentenced to 60 years to life in prison. But Kiera insists she was at school at the time of the murder and doesn't know how to drive. “There was no DNA found or tested, no fingerprints. The clothes I supposedly changed into were never found,” Kiera says. “I’m not capable of shooting anyone. I never even had a gun or even held one.” Hear Kiera’s story in the video above. And, hear why she believes police tied her to the murder. On Friday’s episode of Dr. Phil, "19 Years Lost: I Am Innocent," Dr. Phil examines Kiera’s case and speaks with her teacher, who was her alibi, and her new lawyers who claim Kiera’s case is “the starkest miscarriage of justice” they have ever seen.
