Spencer Baumgarten Lands At ICM Partners, As Partner In Lit Department

EXCLUSIVE: ICM Partners has just sent out the internal announcement that makes it official: Spencer Baumgarten has joined the agency as a partner, bringing the agent and his clients to the lit department. This follows his exit today from CAA, where he spent 12 years. It isn’t clear yet which clients Baumgarten will be bringing with him, and there will be the inevitable scrum as CAA tries to keep them in the fold, while rivals including WME and UTA try to entice them.

Baumgarten’s clients include Jon Favreau and Gore Verbinski, as well as such directors and writers as Neil Burger, John Woo, Kurt Wimmer, Zhang Yimou, Michael Polish, Shekhar Kapur and Pierre Morel. This is a good get for ICM Partners, which has been trying to bring in muscle on the film side.

“Spencer is an exceptional agent who’s passionate about his role in guiding the careers of his clients,” ICM Partners’ partners said in a joint statement. “He is highly regarded in the entertainment community and will be a great addition to our partnership.”

Baumgarten started his career at Endeavor where he worked for six years before moving to CAA.

PREVIOUS, 2:13 PM: Spencer Baumgarten is leaving CAA, and it looks like he’s heading for ICM Partners. Baumgarten has a strong list of writers and directors that includes Pirates Of The Caribbean and Rango helmer Gore Verbinski and Iron Man and The Jungle Book helmer Jon Favreau. His exit had been rumored for the past few weeks — there have been rumors that several agents there might exit — and it has finally been confirmed by the agency.

I am trying to confirm the ICM Partners move and will update when I have more information.
