Can You Spell David Guion & Michael Handelman? They Are Writing ‘Sesame Street’ Film For Warner Bros

EXCLUSIVE: David Guion & Michael Handelman have been set to script a feature film based on the venerable educational kids show Sesame Street for Warner Bros. They’ll start with a treatment as the studio finds a handle for a narrative family film based on the 47-year-old show that has been redone by WB’s sister company, HBO. The feature is being produced by Shawn Levy, Michael Aguilar and Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady, along with rightsholder Sesame Workshop (formerly the Children’s Television Workshop). Mark Gordon is exec producing. Jesse Ehrman is shepherding it for Warner Bros.

The scribes, who previously worked with Levy on Night at The Museum: Secret of the Tomb, also scripted Dinner for Schmucks. They have several other comedies percolating, including the Sony and Mosaic comedy The Understudy, which Jimmy Miller is producing and stars Will Ferrell aqs the world’s greatest Shakespearean actor who has to face a possibly murderous understudy.

Guion and Handelman are repped by UTA.
