The actor was aboard a small plane that plummeted into the ocean.

Christian Oliver, best known for his roles in Speed Racer and The Good German, and his two young daughters have died following a plane crash in the Caribbean on Thursday. The actor was 51.

Oliver, whose real name was Christian Klepser, was aboard a small plane with his two daughters — Madita, 10, and Annik, 12 — when it plummeted into the ocean in Bequia at around noon local time, reported the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force. They and the vehicle's pilot, Robert Sachs, were killed in the accident.

Authorities said the four bodies were retrieved due to the "valiant efforts" of Bequia's fishermen and divers community, who collaborated with the Saint Vincent and Grenadines Coast Guard. The deceased were then transported to Saint Vincent and taken to Kingstown Mortuary.

"Investigation into the matter continues," the police force said.

Representatives for Oliver did not immediately respond to EW's request for more information.

He most recently appeared in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and the TV movie English Estate. Oliver had also wrapped filming the movie Forever Hold Your Peace, for which he was a producer, in December.
