Spectre: Naomie Harris walks back Daniel Craig’s James Bond quotes

One of Daniel Craig’s James Bond costars is playing down his recent negative comments about doing another 007 film

Naomie Harris, who reprises her role as Moneypenny in the upcoming Spectre, told BBC News that Craig “lives and breathes Bond” and that his words were “blown out of proportion.”

Craig said in an interview with Time Out London that he hadn’t given any thought to returning for a fifth Bond outing. “Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all,” he said. “That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”

Harris said Craig was “just being sarcastic,” and that his “sense of humor… doesn’t come across particularly well in print”.

“He’s so dedicated to his craft and he loves playing Bond,” she told BBC News. “It’s easy to take something that someone says in passing and blow it completely out of proportion. I think that’s what’s happened here, so I don’t really believe those comments at all.”

“This movie has taken up two years of my life. And I just need a break,” Craig told EW in a recent interview. “I need to get back to normal life. I need to reintroduce myself to my family who are not best pleased with me. The idea of planning ahead — I’m not trying to be coy. People want an answer and I don’t have one.”

Spectre opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 6.
