On Aug. 2, 2013, The Spectacular Now premiered in theaters. If you were an indie kid in the early 2010s, this film was everything. Based on Tim Tharp's book of the same name, it starred Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller as teenagers experiencing an unexpected romance. Plus, the movie was written by the same guys who wrote 500 Days of Summer: Michael H. Weber and Scott Neustadter.
Looking back on the film 10 years later, the movie is a standout in that very Tumblr-esque era of teen films. (Think Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Fault in Our Stars, and Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.) It was just the fifth film to be released by A24 and featured a stellar supporting cast of whom many are now household names. (Seriously, anyone else forget Kaitlyn Dever was in this movie?!)
So, in honor of the film's 10-year anniversary, here is what the cast looked like then vs. now. Oh, and what all they've been up to since.
There haven't been many punters drafted in the fourth round or higher like Tory Taylor just was. Chicago's No. 1 overall pick welcomed him in unique fashion.
The NFL will allow players to wear protective Guardian Caps during games beginning with the 2024 season. The caps were previously mandated for practices.
Atlanta Falcons first-round draft pick Michael Penix Jr. said quarterback Kirk Cousins called him after he was picked No. 8 overall in one of the 2024 NFL Draft's more puzzling selections.
Tyrese Haliburton hit a floater with 1.1 seconds left in overtime to give the Indiana Pacers a 121–118 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. The Pacers lead their first-round playoff series two games to one.
