Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes will play a 50th anniversary show at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park on Saturday, Feb. 17, the venue announced the morning of Monday, Jan. 1.
Tickets, $50, are on sale now via Stoneponyonline.com and Ticketmaster.com.
The Stone Pony's grand opening was Feb. 14, 1974, after original owner Jack Roig purchased the spot at Ocean and Second Avenue. It was formerly known as the Magic Touch.
Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes made their debut at the club later that year. They were called the Blackberry Booze Band at the time. Since then, their hits include “Talk to Me,” “All I Want Is Everything,” “Hearts of Stone,” “Trapped Again,” “I Don’t Want to Go Home,” “It’s Been a Long Time” and “Having a Party.”
Southside and the Jukes will take requests out of a hat at the 50th anniversary show. The concert will kick off a year-long musical celebration, said current Pony manger Caroline O'Toole.
