'Southern Charm' Star Patricia Altschul Ordered To Court In Legal Battle With Former Costar

“Southern Charm” star Patricia Altschul is set to face-off with her former costar K. Cooper Ray in court.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, 78-year-old Altschul has been ordered to appear in court to try and mediate her issues with Ray. The judge is requiring her to try and hash out the problems mentioned in her lawsuit, prior to the case heading to trial.

Altschul and Cooper were close friends for years and filmed many scenes for “Southern Charm”. They had a falling out where Cooper accused Altschul of getting him kicked off the show.

Earlier this year, Altschul decided to sue Cooper accusing him of defaming her good name around town.

She claimed Cooper had engaged in a “consistent and extended course of attacking and maligning” her through public comments, quotes in the media and media outlets. She claims he continued to wage a campaign of verbally abusing, defaming and taking other actions to harm her and her reputation.

Altschul also took issue with his allegations she had a substance abuse problem, stating she “is a cheater and liar” and even making claims she didn’t write her own cook book. She threw shade claiming he only made the statements in an attempt to promote his own business and name.

Her suit said, “Defendant continues to use Ms. Altschul’s likeness and identity to promote Defendant’s business ventures against Ms. Altschul’s wishes. Defendant offers tours of Charleston under various names, consistently using video clips, images, and text to imply Ms. Altschul’s endorsement of Defendant and his services. Ms. Altschul is an influential and highly recognizable individual in Charleston and has expressly prohibited Defendant from using her image and likeness to promote Defendant’s tour.”

It continued, “As a result of Defendant’s multiple defamations and wrongful appropriation of Plaintiff’s personality, Plaintiff has suffered mental and emotional distress, damage to her reputation, and other special and consequential damages.”

The lawsuit is seeking damages for the alleged emotional damages. Altschul wanted an injunction against Ray prohibiting him from trashing her publicly.

K. Cooper Ray fired back at the lawsuit and denies all allegations of wrongdoing. He denied defaming the reality star with his public statements.

He claims his tweets were his opinion including when he wrote, “She seemed so lit I don’t think she recognized me. Sigh.” Ray asked the court to dismiss all claims against him and close the case.

Altschul was recently dragged into a separate custody battle with her costars Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel. She was grilled by Ravenel during a deposition in the case.

As The Blast previously, Dennis and Ravenel recently settled their custody battle after years of fighting in court.

The two reached a deal to share joint legal and physical custody of their children Kensie and Saint.

The agreement read, “The parties now consider it to be in their best interests and in accord with the best interests and welfare of their children to settle between themselves all matters in issue and have reached a permanent and complete agreement and now wish to reduce their agreement to writing and desire that it shall constitute the total agreement between them.”
