“Southern Charm” Alum Kathryn Dennis Arrested and Charged with DUI

The Bravo star had "an odor of alcohol coming from her," according to a police report obtained by PEOPLE

Kathryn Dennis was arrested in South Carolina and charged with driving under the influence.

The former Southern Charm star, 32, was stopped by the Goose Creek Police Department in Berkeley, South Carolina just after 10 p.m. local time and issued a traffic ticket on May 20, according to a police report obtained by PEOPLE.

She was charged with a DUI for the transport of alcohol that had been opened, per police. One of the responding officers told a colleague that Dennis was "possibly impaired" upon stopping her, and another officer wrote in the report that she "had glossy eyes and an odor of alcohol coming from her." She was then arrested for driving under the influence.

As a result of the arrest, the Bravo star is required to appear in court on June 4.

PEOPLE has reached out to Dennis for comment. TMZ was first to report the news.

This isn't Dennis' first time getting involved with authorities as of late.

In October, a vehicle registered in Dennis' name was involved in an alleged hit-and-run incident in South Carolina, PEOPLE confirmed at the time.

The SUV struck a school resource officer directing traffic in front of Whitesville Elementary School, Lance Corporal Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol told PEOPLE. The injured officer received medical attention on site.

The vehicle, which "did not stop at the scene of the collision," was later located at Dennis's address.

A knowledgeable source told PEOPLE that the Southern Charm alum was involved in the alleged incident, though the South Carolina Highway Patrol did not reveal who was driving the car.

Days before her DUI arrest on May 20, Dennis, who departed Southern Charm after eight seasons in January 2023, was with her son, St. Julien (Saint), who she shares with ex Thomas Ravenel.

In a post on Instagram, she shared photos of him from a flag football game where he scored a touchdown.

"When your kiddo nails a touchdown and busts out the Madden victory dance," she wrote in the post's caption. "Proud mom with my little champ and his biggest fans."

Dennis shares custody of her son and daughter, Kensington, with Ravenel, and she has openly said it's a "tough" situation not to be with her kids all the time.

Since splitting from Ravenel, 61, in 2016, the pair have battled for custody and traded allegations regarding their on-and-off romance.
