Southeastern Univ. in Lakeland to host talk by U.S. House member from North Carolina

Southeastern University will host U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-North Carolina, for an event sponsored by the American Center for Political Leadership. Foxx will speak Monday at 10 a.m. in the Welcome Center’s Lake Bonny Room. Foxx will open with brief remarks and then take questions from the audience.

Foxx serves as the Republican Leader of the House Committee on Education and Labor. She served as Secretary of the House Republican Conference from 2013 to 2016.

Prior to serving on Capitol Hill, Foxx spent 10 years in the North Carolina Senate, where she successfully sponsored several statewide and local bills and consistently voted against tax increases, SEU said in a news release.
