'South Park' hits back at China after being banned: 'F**k the Chinese government'

Last week’s South Park criticized the Chinese government for censorship and mocked Hollywood’s acquiescence to the nation, which got the show banned in China but led to it being screened on the streets of Hong Kong. South Park took things a bit further on Wednesday, which is hardly surprising given South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s “apology,” in which they mocked Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the NBA, which is currently embroiled in a controversy involving China and free speech.

In a continuation of last week’s episode, this week’s, the 300th(!) episode, South Park in no subtle way alludes to corporate greed outweighing the importance of democracy, while at the same time touching on human rights abuses on the part of the Chinese government.

And while NBA Commissioner Adam Silver scrambles to support free speech while at the same time trying to appease the Chinese government and hold onto the lucrative Chinese market, the writers for South Park, 23 seasons in, continue to fully embrace their free speech, with Randy loudly proclaiming at the end, “F**k the Chinese government!”

South Park airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on Comedy Central.
