COLUMBIA, S.C. (WBTW) — An author from Columbia recently published the second novel in his series, and now Reggie Thompson is determined to turn it into a television series.

He is the author of the “Chronicles of John Slater.”

It’s been a dream of Reggie Thompson’s to star as the lead actor in his own action film, and his career has taken him on quite a journey. It first started by writing a screen play and then led to writing a book series. However, his dream still lives on.

“This idea was never meant to be a book,” Thompson said with a chuckle.

Not just the author of one book, but two. “The Chronicles of John Slater” is a two part series. The first book was published last year and the second was published last month.

Thompson said his end goal has always been for this story to hit the big screen. He said the universe had other plans.

“My eye on the prize is either this can be a film or tv series,” he said. “But now I’m at the point in the journey where I learned this will be a tv series instead of film.”

Thompson said he never saw himself as a writer.

“I’m still in shock that I wrote something down… anything,” he said.

He’s been acting for about seven years and has an ultimate goal to be an action star — which is the inspiration behind the character Detective John Slater.

“The 90s just have the best action movies in my opinion so I wrote my first screenplay to mirror those action movies,” Thompson said. “So, I wrote a character who is the best soldier, best cop and he gets the job done.”

Similarly, Thompson is not giving up until he gets the job done and makes his dreams come true.

The book series can be purchased on amazon and amazon kindle.
