The South Bend Symphony goes ‘Back to the ’80s’ for pops concert at the Morris

SOUTH BEND — The South Bend Symphony Orchestra journeys “Back to the ’80s” for its next pops concert, at 7:30 p.m. April 20 at the Morris Performing Arts Center, 211 N. Michigan St.

Vocalists Brie Cassil, Paul Loren and Colin Smith, drummer Jacob Navarro and guitarist Oscar Rodriguez join SBSO Music Director Alastair Willis and the orchestra to perform symphonic adaptations of some of the most beloved songs of the 1980s from artists such as Elton John, Billy Joel, Phil Collins, Huey Lewis and the News, Whitney Houston, Cyndi Lauper and more.

“I grew up in the ’80s, which is when I started discovering all kinds of music (not just classical),” Willis said in a press release. “Every single song on this program brings back fantastic memories of my childhood!”
