MISHAWAKA — Southside Denny Snyder holds an album release party at 8 p.m. May 18 at The Midway Tavern, 810 W. Fourth St.

Titled “Heal It,” the 13-song album is Snyder’s first Southside Denny album since 2009’s “Full Circle.”

He says the songs, 10 originals and three covers, are mostly love songs about growing and healing from life’s ups and downs, all steeped in the blues tradition.

All of the musicians on the album will perform with the singer-guitarist: Louis Poulos and Lorrie Snyder on bass, Brendyn Cane and Josh Wakeman on drums, Don Savoie on keyboards and harmonica, and Jetta Cruze and Cinthia Sabetti on background vocals.

The covers are Merle Travis’ “16 Tons,” J.J. Cale’s “Same Old Blues” and Leon Russell’s “I’d Rather Be Blind.”

Born and raised in South Bend and based in Montreal since 2007, Snyder is a Chicago-style blues-rocker and acoustic solo artist with 11 albums to his credit, including two with his 1980s band, Southside Denny and the Skintones; several solo albums, including “Eclectic,” “Roots and Branches” and “Rollin’ Home”; and several with his family band, The Snyders, including “Reaching Higher” and “Growing Pains.”

In 2000, he represented his home state of Indiana in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis and captured third place at the Montréal Grand Prix de la Guitare.

Admission is $15.
