Free-agent guard Trey Burke has changed course on a non-guaranteed deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder and will remain a free agent, league sources told The Vertical.

Burke, 24, was expected to compete with Semaj Christon in training camp for the Thunder’s third point guard spot but made the last-second decision to change his mind. Burke spent last season with the Washington Wizards, averaging five points and 1.8 assists in 57 games.

Burke was the No. 9 overall pick in 2013 out of Michigan, where he led the program to the national championship game in his final season as a sophomore. Burke was traded to the Wizards last offseason after spending three seasons in Utah, which acquired him in a draft-day deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He has averaged 10.6 points and 3.6 assists per game for his career.

The Thunder on Saturday reached agreement to acquire New York Knicks All-Star Carmelo Anthony for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott and a 2018 second-round pick.
