Sources: Phoenix Suns acquire guard Troy Daniels
The Phoenix Suns have acquired guard Troy Daniels and a 2018 second-round draft pick from the Memphis Grizzlies, league sources told The Vertical.
The Suns will send a top-55 protected second-round draft pick in 2018 to the Grizzlies as part of the deal, league sources said.
Daniels, a 6-foot-4 shooter, had two seasons and $6.8 million remaining on his contract, a salary Memphis has shopped and found a trade partner in the Suns. Phoenix has worked the trade market for a reserve shooting guard after losing rookie guard Davon Reed to knee surgery.
Daniels, 26, averaged 8.2 points while shooting 38.9 percent from 3-point range in 67 games last season. He has played four NBA seasons, becoming a success story out of the Houston Rockets’ development league program in 2013 and earning a three-year contract in 2016.
