Sources: Lakers to sign former No. 2 overall pick to 10-day deal
The Los Angeles Lakers plan to sign forward Derrick Williams to a 10-day contract, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Williams, a former No. 2 overall pick, recently finished his season in the Chinese Basketball Association. The Lakers will be without forward Brandon Ingram for at least one week due to a groin strain, and Williams is expected to provide additional depth on the wing and in the frontcourt.

Los Angeles has won 10 of its past 14 games and is 29-35 entering Friday’s road game against Denver.
A six-year NBA veteran, Williams went unsigned in free agency last offseason and signed with Tianjin in China. He averaged 20 points and 6.6 rebounds for Tianjin this season.
Williams had a strong finish to the season with the Cleveland Cavaliers last year, joining the team after being released by the Miami Heat in February 2017. Williams was the second pick in the 2011 NBA draft by Minnesota and has averaged 8.9 points and four rebounds for his career. He has also played with Sacramento and New York.
