Sources: Derrick Rose agrees to 1-year deal to re-sign with Timberwolves

Free-agent point guard Derrick Rose has agreed to a one-year, $2.1 million contract to re-sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Rose appeared in nine games for the Timberwolves during the 2017-18 regular season, but his role increased during Minnesota’s five-game, first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets when he averaged 14.2 points, 2.6 assists and 23.8 minutes.

Rose, 29, began the season with the Cleveland Cavaliers but appeared in only 16 games because of injuries. He was sent to the Utah Jazz at the trade deadline. The Jazz waived Rose, freeing him to sign with the Timberwolves.

Rose has averaged 18.9 points and 5.7 assists across his nine-season NBA career. The Chicago Bulls made him the No. 1 pick of the 2008 NBA draft, and he was named the league’s MVP in 2011 before injuries slowed him.
