Sound Check on 9: Texas Hart

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – In this week’s episode of Sound Check on 9 KTSM featured local musician Texas Hart and his band in a live-to-tape jam session at Bella Luna studio.

Hart grew up in Hawaii and moved to El Paso just before he started high school.

He discovered his love for music and its bonding power while playing ukulele with his friends back in Hawaii.

“When I moved here to El Paso, I found it kind of hard to make friends and it was in eight grade, right before high school. And so, I brought my ukulele to school and started doing the same stuff that I did back then,” Hart recalled the times just before he started taking music and songwriting more seriously.

He identifies as a fan of “all music” which includes genres ranging from blues, rock’n’roll, country, reggae and much more.

“My music is sort of a pop mic of all of it,” he described.

His band consists of him on the vocals, drums, guitar, bass, keyboards, and three back vocals whose voices can only be described with the word “angelic.”

Hart said he writes about anything relatable, whether it’s love songs or “not-so-love-songs.

“I write about things that someone like me needs to hear at the time. You know, I have a song called If You’re Ever on Everest, which is about the ego. My name is Texas Hart and I have a huge ego. And sometimes I myself need to remind myself to keep it in check,” he explained.

Hart is currently working on his debut album The Story of One which he plans on releasing over the summer and will soon release the live-to-tape jam session from Sound Check on 9 as his first live album.

You can find his latest releases and gigs on his Instagram as well as find his music on all the music streaming platforms.
