Sound Check on 9: Doom Well

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — This week’s Sound Check on 9 featured Doom Well – an excentric duo and their band with a unique sound that combines psychedelic rock, 60’s folk, and much more.

Brothers and founders Myles and Elliot Lavis started off like most bands do – making music in their bedroom.

They say their genre is hard to describe.

“I hate to get too distracted by a label, just have fun and be a little dark,” said Myles.

Since starting as a duo, they’ve included a whole band that is now comprised of two guitars, bass, keyboards that go along with a tambourine, and two vocals performed by Myles and Elliot.

Their music is not just about the intriguing sound but about their image and performance.

“We’ve always been in theatre,” said Myles.

“It’s just second nature. What we do is, there’s a difference between playing music and givign a performance and we’re all about the latter,” said Elliot.

Doom Well just released their newest single “Palace Doom” along with a music video produced by the duo and shot at Memorial Park and El Paso Museum of Art.

“We do all of our visuals, all of our media, everythig ourselves,” said Elliot.

Doom Well’s next gig is on May 11 at Cafe Con Leche and you can find all of their music on all the music streaming platforms as well as their social media.

“If people take anything away from our music I hope that they see that we are from this city, we are here. We’re trying to shine some light on the beauty of El Paso and the art that is here,” said Eliott with Myles adding how important it is for queer artists to be represented in the community.
