‘The Sound of Bakersfield’ music festival to take over downtown Sunday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Music festival season is underway and the streets of downtown Bakersfield will be echoing with live music Sunday afternoon.

The Downtown Business Association will be hosting the inaugural “The Sound of Bakersfield” music festival May 19. DBA’s new Executive Director, Vanessa Shaw, joined 17 News at Noon to talk about the upcoming new festival.

The music festival will be taking over 18th and 19th Streets and will showcase different musical genres including Country, rock and reggae.

The festival is a family friendly event and children under the age of seven get in for free, according to Shaw. You can also expect vendors, food, drinks and more. Shaw encourages music lovers to bring spending cash.

General admission is $30, with $20 for students. The show begins at 1 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m.
