Soulja Boy apologized to J. Cole with the help of Nicki Minaj. On Monday (Nov. 6), Soulja and Nicki hopped on Instagram Live, where the pair spoke about the former’s issues with Cole. After Soulja explained himself, the Queens emcee gave him an example of a misunderstanding.

She recalled thinking that Soulja had an issue with her after her VMA’s Hip-Hop 50th performance of “Itty Bitty Piggy.” The song remixes the Atlanta rapper’s “Donk,” and she wondered if not having him on the stage led to them having an issue.

“I thought you had beef with me ’cause you had said something after the VMAs, and I was like, ‘Oh, let me find out Soulja mad at me,'” Nicki disclosed. “I would’ve loved nothing more than to have you there… This is a prime f**king example of how sh*t can go left real fast. I don’t know if you know, but I ended up having to perform three times, and hosting a show, and doing a red carpet, right? It was at the last minute that I even decided what I was gonna perform in that slot.”

Soulja Boy admitted that he felt a way but it was more directed at MTV, stating, “It’s never no disrespect to the queen. We love and support everything you do. I just felt a little certain type of way with MTV, but you got it cleared up, it’s all good.”

The “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” rapper then used that example to help Soulja understand his situation with Cole. After the entertainer explained that he was bothered that Jermaine said he didn’t like his music, Nicki clarified what he meant.

“He never said that babe, he said that he was keeping it real with himself and had to admit that people like you were bringing the energy and he didn’t really want to say that to certain people,” she explained. “He basically gave you props. So what the f**k was you on when you misinterpreted it and why you sitting here doing the most again?…He don’t even strike me as that type of person.”

However, the “Crank That” entertainer pushed back and insisted that someone like Cole should never speak on his name. He explained that Drake just gave the Fayetteville emcee his first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Meanwhile, Soulja produced and wrote his first No. 1 when he was 16.

Minaj asserted that if Jermaine actually was hating, she would agree, but that isn’t Cole’s point. She then explained that she is usually quick to “curse someone out,” but she is trying to better understand both sides before jumping to conclusions.

Soulja Boy began to see where the legendary rapper was coming from and conceded to her explanation. He later xweeted out an apology to J. Cole. “Nicki just told me I took what he said wrong,” he typed. “And that he was showing love. So I’m gonna let it go. My bad y’all I really thought dude was hating on me.”

“My bad dawg. J. Cole sorry for the confusion,” he added. “Keep doing your sh*t we from two different worlds. I stand on what I stand on, it’s hard coming from where I did man. I dealt with a lot of hate my whole career so it was just messed to think it would come from you.”
