Sotheby's will debut its second art exhibition of the town's winter season Friday.

"Alberto Giacometti & Pablo Picasso, A Modernist Legacy," a selling exhibition showcasing the works of the two Modernist masters, runs through Feb. 11 at the auction house's Palm Beach gallery.

Featuring 18 works from as early as 1915, in which Picasso's early Cubist output influenced Giacometti's early years in Paris, the exhibition traces Giacometti’s and Picasso’s extensive personal exchange in the following decades.

Alberto Giacometti's "Buste d’Annette IV," finished in 1962, will be on display at Sotheby's Palm Beach starting Friday.

The two artists, who deeply admired and strongly influenced each other, formed an "unexpected friendship" that left a legacy that would define the course of art history until today, Sotheby's said in a release.

The exhibition will feature works that highlight the rich history and innovation characteristic of the Modern period in art history. Pieces range in price from $75,000 to $7 million.

Pablo Picasso's "Vue de Notre Dame," an oil on canvas painting from 1945, will be on display beginning Friday as part of the "Alberto Giacometti & Pablo Picasso, A Modernist Legacy" exhibition at Sotheby's Palm Beach.

Together, the group of works carries a total value of about $20 million.

“We are thrilled to unveil the second show of the season with ‘Alberto Giacometti & Pablo Picasso: A Modernist Legacy,’ a selling exhibition about two of the most important and influential artists of the 20th century who left an indelible mark on art history," said Nick Diemel, Sotheby's head of private sales for the Americas Modern Art and a senior specialist for Modern & Contemporary Art.

"Each work captures the essence of the artists’ deep artistic and intellectual friendship and rivalry while tracing their strong influence on generations of artists to come," he said.

"Alberto Giacometti & Pablo Picasso, A Modernist Legacy" follows Sotheby's first exhibition of the winter season, “Contemporary and Modern Masters,” which closed Jan. 7.

Sotheby's is at 50 Cocoanut Row, Suite 101. For more information, visit www.sothebys.com/en/about/locations/palm-beach.
