Created by Bilal Baig and Fab Filippo, CBC Television and HBO Max’s Sort Of revolves around Sabi Mehboob, a non-binary millennial and the child of Pakistani immigrants as they deal with life’s various challenges. Season 1 of the Canadian sitcom began airing on November 9, 2021, season 2 on November 15, 2022, and season 3 on November 17, 2023. If you are wondering whether or not there will be a fourth season, this is what we have discovered.

Here’s all we know about Sort Of Season 4 and whether or not it’s coming out.

Is there a Sort Of Season 4 release date?

There is no Sort Of Season 4 release date as the series came to an end after the third season.

Sort Of was greenlit for season 3 in December 2022, about a week after season 2 finished airing. In October 2023, it was announced that the third season of Sort Of would also be its last. In a statement, series creators Bilal Baig and Fab Filippo rejected the rumors that the show was being canceled before adding that they knew that Sort Of would end with season 3 when they made it.

“We’re aware that series like ours, shows that feature queer and trans characters, tend to get cancelled early on, and we know that’s been happening a lot recently,” the statement read. “We want to say that’s not what’s going down here. We made this third season knowing it would be our last.”

In the same statement, the co-creators reflected on what the show’s legacy would be. “We’re also aware that this show is ending at a time when trans communities continue to be targeted and trans rights are being constantly attacked,” it said. “Our hope is that this series can continue to affirm lives and spark conversations well after the final season drops. Sort Of will always exist, despite all the transphobia in our world,”

The cast includes Bilal Baig as Sabi Mehboob, Gray Powell as Paul Bauer, Kaya Kanashiro as Violet Kaneko-Bauer, Aden Bedard as Henry Kaneko-Bauer, Amanda Cordner as 7ven, Grace Lynn Kung as Bessy Kaneko, Ellora Patnaik as Raffo Mehboob, Supinder Wraich as Aqsa Mehboob, and more.

Why Sort Of Season 4 isn’t happening

Sort Of Season 4 isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, Sort of concluded after three seasons. ComingSoon will provide an update if the circumstances change.

The official synopsis for Sort Of reads:

“Fluid millennial Sabi Mehboob straddles various identities from bartender at an LGBTQ bookstore/bar, to the youngest child in a Pakistani family, to the de facto parent of a downtown hipster family. Sabi feels like they’re in transition in every aspect of their life, from gender to love to sexuality to family to career.”
