Sophie Turner Says She's Looking Forward to Her Thirties: 'I Can Do Anything'

"I feel like the world is my oyster, and I get to share it with my kids," the actress said of her outlook on life eight months after her divorce from Joe Jonas

Sophie Turner has a lot to look forward to.

In an interview with Chioma Nnadi for The Run-Through with Vogue, the Game of Thrones star, 28, reflected on what she's looking forward to as she approaches her third decade of life.

"It's funny because, you know, the stereotypical thing for a woman is, like, your goals in life are to get married and have children, and, you know, that's not necessarily my views on what my life ambitions are," she said. "But there's a certain freedom with knowing that I've skipped — I've kind of ticked those two boxes. So I'm like, I can do anything."

As she looks to her thirties, Turner — who separated from her husband of four years, Joe Jonas, in September — said her focus is on their children, daughters Willa, 3 ½ , and Delphine, 22 months.

"My goal for the rest of my life, of course, is [to] provide the best life possible for my children, and raise them in a way that they have — they're inquisitive, and they want to explore, and they ask questions, and they're always learning," the actress shared. "That's that's what I want for them."

In order to make that happen, Turner said with a laugh, "My thirties look like a lot of work — but also a lot of quality time with them, as well. So it's finding that balance."

As she moves past her relationship with Jonas, 34, and focuses on her own life, Turner admitted, "I'm quite excited, because I feel like the world is my oyster, and I get to share it with my kids. And so it — I think my thirties looks like a lot of fun, but, yeah, a lot of work."

In her cover story for British Vogue's June 2024 issue, Turner elaborated more on the days that followed her split from the singer, calling it "the worst few days of my life."

“I remember I was on set, I was contracted to be on set for another two weeks, so I couldn’t leave. My kids were in the States and I couldn’t get to them because I had to finish Joan. And all these articles started coming out," she recalled of the headlines that followed Jonas filing for divorce.

"I mean, it’s unfathomable the amount of people that will just make s--- up and put it up based on a picture. A picture might tell a thousand words, but it’s not my story. It felt like I was watching a movie of my life that I hadn’t written, hadn’t produced, or starred in. It was shocking. I’m still in shock.”

The actress said that after "two weeks of me being in a rut," her lawyer reminded her what was at stake — "She reminded me that it was my children I was fighting for," Turner said.

Now, Turner said she is "the happiest I've been in a really long time."

"I'm starting over again, rediscovering what I like to do, who I like to be with," she told the outlet.

Turner and Jonas remain in the midst of their divorce, as the actress asked a judge to "reactivate" the divorce case in March, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Since their separation, neither has commented on any other relationships, but Turner has been spotted spending time with British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson, while Jonas has been spotted out with model Stormi Bree.
