Famed tiny singing duo Sophia Grace and Rosie first appeared on an October 2011 episode of the Ellen DeGeneres Show after a video of them performing Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” went viral. As in, they got to attend the Kids’ Choice Awards and the American Music Awards and meet Drake, Rihanna, and Nicki herself–levels of viral. In a bittersweet episode of Ellen’s final season, the two returned to talk about the video that catapulted them to stardom. If you wanna feel old, def keep reading.

When discussing how their original YouTube vid came to be, Sophia Grace recalled, “As a child, I always used to dress up, like play dress up, so did Rosie.”

“I was dressing up, and Rosie’s favorite costume happened to be the Virgin Mary—you know, Mary and Jesus...I was around and Rosie was wearing the outfit. I kept singing Nicki Minaj all the time and my Auntie, Rosie’s mom, was the only one who had an iPhone. She said, ‘Why don’t we film it? Rosie, quickly get out of the Virgin Mary outfit and get into that outfit.’” And the rest is truly history.

Once the video blew up (it has more than 54 million views to date!), the duo was invited on Ellen's daytime show and went on to make more than 30 more appearances. During their last visit, Sophia Grace and Rosie reflected on some of their favorite memories from over the years, including Rosie getting kissed on the cheek by Justin Bieber and Sophia Grace finally getting to meet Nicki Minaj. Then the two did THE most iconic thing ever and recreated their “Super Bass” vid, complete with the “original props” of princess-themed recorders and wands. Do I feel old? Yes. Am I impressed I still remember all of Nicki’s lyrics? Also yes.

The singers also took time to discuss what they’ve been up to in the years since their first public appearance. “I actually have a new single that’s just come out called “Little Things” and the music video’s also just come out,” announced Sophia Grace. Rosie, for her part, has followed in her cousin’s footsteps and released her own debut single called “Safe in Your Love.” I love this for them!
