Sophia Bush and Ashlyn Harris Coordinated Looks for Their Red-Carpet Debut

Just a few days after Sophia Bush opened up about her relationship with soccer star Ashlyn Harris in a candid cover essay for Glamour, the pair finally made their red-carpet debut as a couple.

In fact, the duo walked two red carpets on April 27, starting with their arrival at the White House Correspondents’ dinner in Washington, DC. In one red-carpet photo, the pair smiled for the cameras in subtly coordinated looks, with their arms wrapped around each other. While Harris wore a black suit adorned with oversized gold studs, Bush was practically glowing in a strapless gown with metallic floral details and those same gold studs fastened onto her dress pockets.

Both women wore designs by Harbison Studio with Briony Raymond jewelry. Now that’s hers-and-hers dressing at its finest.

The pair loosened up a bit more for their second red carpet, literally and figuratively. While posing for cameras outside of a WHCD after-party, Harris unbuttoned her suit jacket, revealing a sheer black top underneath. Meanwhile, both parties appeared to get more comfortable with PDA, taking multiple moments to whisper things into each other’s ears.

News that One Tree Hill star Sophia Bush was dating former US women’s national soccer team player Ashlyn Harris went public on October 17, 2023—just six days after the world learned of Harris’s split from her wife and former teammate Ali Krieger (though Harris had actually filed for divorce a month prior). At the time, many fans believed Harris had an affair with Bush, who had filed for divorce from Grant Hughes this past summer after 13 months of marriage.

Bush opened up about their love story—and all the backlash—in a candid essay for *Glamour.*

In her April cover essay for Glamour, Bush revealed that she and Harris met in 2019 but grew closer through a support group of friends going through divorces. “I didn’t expect to find love in this support system,” Bush writes. “I don’t know how else to say it other than: I didn’t see it until I saw it. And I think it’s very easy not to see something that’s been in front of your face for a long time when you’d never looked at it as an option and you had never been looked at as an option. What I saw was a friend with her big, happy life. And now I know she thought the same thing about me.”

Bush says she eventually decided to ask Harris to a one-on-one lunch after friends pointed out their strong connection, writing, “That meal was four and a half hours long and truly one of the most surreal experiences of my life thus far.” While unpacking the initial backlash to their relationship, Bush said she was “absolutely in awe” of Harris’s “relentless integrity.”

“The way she prioritizes and centers her kids, not only in her life but in the core of her being, is breathtaking to behold,” Bush continued. “Falling in love with her has sutured some of my own childhood wounds and made me so much closer to my own mother. Seeing Ashlyn choose to not simply survive, but thrive, for her babies has been the most beautiful thing I’ve ever witnessed a friend do. And now I get to love her. How lucky am I?”
