Basketball games, candle making workshops and a vendor pop-up. The coming weekend brings many fun activities and events to the Stockton area.

Here are 10 things to do this weekend.

Sopas de Amor at the Mexican Heritage Center & Gallery

The Annual Sopas de Amor event is back Friday, Feb. 9 at the Mexican Heritage Center & Gallery.

There will be 15 unique soups made by local restaurants highlighting different regions of Mexico, Visit Stockton website states. The evening will also include entertainment, art sales, and raffles.

Stockton Kings games

The Stockton Kings will play at home this weekend. Support the G-League basketball team on Friday as they take on the Indiana Mad Ants or on Saturday against the Oklahoma City Blue.

Candle Making Workshops

Star's Calming Candles will be at the Courthouse Plaza this weekend for candle making workshops.

There will be a "step-by-step guide" to create custom scented soy candles, according to Visit Stockton.

Schedule:

  • 12-2 p.m. and 3:30-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, general classes

  • 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, sip and pour class for ages over 21 (Bring your own beer, wine will be offered)

2nd Saturdays for Families at the Haggin Museum

The Haggin Museum is hosting its 2nd Saturdays for Families with an "Art & Music" event, according to Visit Stockton's website.

"We’re honoring Black History Month by creating a mixed media collage inspired by jazz music and the works of artist Romare Bearden," the Haggin Museum website states.

The 2nd Saturdays for Families events are for children ages 5-12. Some activities may include art or interactive projects and museum events. While reservations are not required seating is available on a first come-first served basis, the museum website states.

Materials and activities are free with regular admission to the Haggin Museum. Tickets are $8 adults, $7 seniors and military, $5 youth 10-17 years old and students with ID. Admission is free for museum members and children under 10 years old.

'The Space Race' Advanced Screening, conversation with SpaceX astronaut Dr. Sian Proctor at University of the Pacific

The University of the Pacific will be hosting an advanced screening of "The Space Race," a National Geographic Film at the Janet Leigh Theatre at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10.

After the film screening, there will be a discuss with Zephanii Smith Eisenstat from the NAACP Foundation, Dr. Sian Proctor a SpaceX astronaut and the first African-American woman to pilot a spacecraft, and former education program manager at NASA Mera Burton, the University of the Pacific website states.

Stockton Chorale's Sweetheart Cabaret

The Stockton Chorale is hosting their annual Sweetheart Cabaret with entertainment and food at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10.

All proceeds from the event will go toward the 2024-2025 season, according to Visit Stockton.

There will be a champagne cabaret show, dinner and dessert auction, and karaoke with the Stockton Chorale. Tickets start at $50.

Stockton Symphony Gospel Inspirations

The Stockton Symphony presents "Gospel Inspirations," at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Love and Alchemy Pop-up at the Hatch Workshop

The Hatch Workshop will be holding a Love and Alchemy Pop-up event in downtown Stockton on Sunday, Feb. 11.

The event will be from 2-6 p.m. and is presented by ALTR Inspirations, Visit Stockton website states. There will be local vendors, artists, poetry and music.

Head downtown to the Bob Hope Theatre for a classic movie on the silver screen.

Friends of the Fox Classic Movie series presents "Sleepless in Seattle," a 1993 romance comedy starring Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan and Ross Malinger.

Dave Moreno will be at the Mighty Morton organ and master of ceremonies Matías Bombal will kick off the movie at 2 p.m. Doors open at 1 p.m.

Tickets are $3 for children 4 to 12 years old. General admission is $9.
