'Sons of Anarchy' Star David Labrava Honors His Teenage Son Tycho 18 Months After His Death

Remembering The Tragedy

Sons of Anarchy and Mayans M.C. star David Labrava took to social media on November 5th to remember the tragic death of his son, Tycho. Tycho died by suicide at the age of 16, and Labrava posted a poignant message marking 18 months since his death along with photos of his son.

"It has been 18 months today. It feels like 18 minutes has passed. I love and miss you ever minute of every day TYCHO."

Support From His Co-Stars

Labrava has posted about his son before, opening up about the realities of the depression that Tycho suffered from and how his death has left Labrava a changed man.

"Now I understand depression. My friends say I'm not the same. I'm not. I am irreparably broken. I get up, put my clothes on and go to work but it's all different. Life is different. I am trying my best to Rise Above. It ain't easy."

His Mayans co-stars Antonio Jaramillo and Frankie Loyal offered "much love" to Labrava in the Instagram comments.

A Profound Message

After Tycho's death, Labrava became an advocate for mental health and fighting depression, encouraging families to discuss this insidious mental health issue together.

"This is MY BOY Tycho. He took his life a couple of days ago at 16 years old. He suffered from a depression we couldn't see because he was a happy young kid. Communicate with your loved ones, there might not be any signs. Cherish them."

Raising Awareness

A GoFundMe page was started after Tycho's death in order to establish FlyHighTycho, which raises awareness for depression and bipolar disorder. According to the page,

"Never FORGET: Always be kind and have compassion for others. Never spread rumors and learn to communicate with each other. Please join us in our fight to raise awareness of the signs of depression! We need to honor our friends because we never know what's hiding behind someone's smile."

We send our thoughts of peace to Labrava on this difficult day.
