Today (Aug. 30), Sonny Digital dropped off a new single titled “Could Be Worse,” which was produced by Buddah Bless. As the chorus makes clear, he has little problem flexing his lifestyle and success on wax.

“All black truck, that mean it’s time to put in work, how you ain’t got no crib, but you got a Louis purse? Baby, I’m kinda confused, can you tell me how that work? She don’t want no juice, she want tequila and some percs, could be worse, one phone call and I could get you off this earth, VS on my neck, know exactly what this worth…”

“Could Be Worse” boasts a matching video that was directed by Decat. Keeping things simple, viewers can see Sonny Digital rocking some high-end threads while in the middle of a photoshoot.

For more than a decade, the Atlanta-based talent helped to provide the soundtrack for hip hop culture — specifically, the now-wildly popular trap subgenre. Some of his biggest contributions were on notable cuts like Future’s “Same D**n Time,” 2 Chainz and Kanye West’s “Birthday Song,” ILOVEMAKONNEN and Drake’s “Tuesday,” 21 Savage’s “Red Opps,” and Travis Scott’s “STARGAZING.” Away from the boards, songs like “Guess What,” “Since 91,” “Vet,” “Back 2 Back,” and now “Could Be Worse” prove that he’s a standalone artist in his own right.

In an interview with REVOLT, Sonny Digital spoke on turning his focus to rapping, a result of not receiving proper recognition as a decorated beatsmith. “I’m focused on me and what I got going on as far as my artistry,” he said. “I’m cool on the producing, been producing for a long time, and I got people coming up to me and they don’t know if I’m Metro [Boomin] or Sonny… so I’m done with that though. I’ll do it as a side job.”
