Sonic Youth’s From the Basement Set Available to Stream for the First Time: Watch

In May, producer Nigel Godrich announced that archival footage from his independent live performance series From the Basement would finally be made available to stream online. Over the past couple months, clips and full sets from Radiohead, PJ Harvey, Queens of the Stone Age, Fleet Foxes, and other groups have been trickling onto the From the Basement YouTube channel. Today, Sonic Youth’s performance from 2007 has been uploaded in full. Recorded during the group’s tour behind 2006’s Rather Ripped, the set includes three songs from that album as well as two cuts from Daydream Nation (“The Sprawl” and “Hey Joni”). Watch that below.

Last year, Sonic Youth released Battery Park, NYC: July 4, 2008, a live album that originally accompanied pre-orders of their final studio LP The Eternal. Since then, the band have uploaded various live recordings from throughout their career to their Bandcamp page.
