Sonic, Arcane are back on the big (and small) screen in 2024. Here's when

The second season of "Halo" may be over, but gamers across the globe may have cause to celebrate for the foreseeable future as more of the biggest video game franchises are set to come to the big and small screens through 2024 and beyond.

From Borderlands to Sonic, major stars like Jamie Lee Curtis, Jim Carrey and Jack Black will be venturing into some of the worlds of the most beloved games around the globe this year as more are being adapted — or revisited — by Hollywood.

Here's a look at seven games adapted to film and television in 2024 in beyond:

The full plot of the third adventure is currently unknown, but is expected to follow the events of "Sonic Adventure 2," originally released for the Sega Dreamcast in 2001. Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic's rival of alien origin, is also anticipated to make his big screen debut. Stars Jim Carrey and James Marsden will return, with Sonic still voiced by Ben Schwartz.

If you can't wait until December, a six-episode mini-series starring Knuckles, Sonic's echidna friend (and rival) voiced by Idris Elba, will be making its way to Paramount+ in April. View the trailer below:

The main story follows a demon hunter named Dante who seeks vengeance for the death of his family. The franchise, which has produced some of the biggest hits over various iterations of the Sony PlayStation during its run, previously had an animated adaptation released by the Japanese animation studio Madhouse in 2007.

Arcane: League of Legends: Season 2

Expected release date: November 2024

Based off the massive multi-player online battle arena game "League of Legends" from Riot Games, Arcane follows two iconic champions in Utopian Piltover and the underground of Zaun.
