Songtrust Expands Business Operations to Europe, Names Mandy Aubry Director of Global Business Development

Songtrust, Downtown Music Publishing’s global digital rights management platform, is opening a new office in Amsterdam and hiring Mandy Aubry as director of global business development and client relations, leading the company’s expansion in Europe.

Since launching in 2011, Songtrust’s global collection offering has grown to manage over 1 million song copyrights composed by over 100,000 unique songwriter clients, more than any other copyright administrator in the world. Today, the Songtrust platform enables royalty collection from over 100 countries, through direct deals with over 40 national and international collection societies as well as with the likes of Amazon, Apple Music, Pandora, Spotify and YouTube in the U.S.

Aubry will focus on expanding Songtrust’s global client roster of labels, publishers, and businesses, in addition to independent songwriters. Previously, Aubry spent a decade at Dutch rights management company, Fintage House, until its music division was sold to Kobalt Music last year. During her time at Fintage, Aubry was responsible for managing and developing the company’s international music publishing roster — spanning film and TV production companies like Vanacore Music and Alcon Sleeping Giant, publishing companies such as Nettwerk Music Publishing and Big Yellow Dog and independent singer-songwriters like Tori Amos and Jason Mraz.

“Songtrust’s core ideology sits really well with me,” Mandy said in a statement. “Songtrust allows any songwriter, publisher, or copyright owner to get their foot on the collection ladder. It takes the complexity of the process out of the equation and offers an affordable, flexible service with no long-term commitment, something that is also increasingly appealing to established songwriters and copyright owners, including those with high royalty income streams. Many are looking for simply great publishing administration. Songtrust’s technology is a welcome addition to the often antiquated world of publishing collection, and I am truly thrilled to be working with Justin [Kalifowitz], Joe, and the team in growing their international presence.”

“We are thrilled to have Mandy Aubry helm our Songtrust presence in Europe,” added Joe B. Conyers III, VP of technology at Downtown Music Publishing and general manager of Songtrust. “Mandy has a deep knowledge of the music publishing space and understands the diverse needs of various stakeholders, from writers and artists to labels and publishers. The addition of her unique perspective to Songtrust’s executive team will be key in reinforcing the value of our platform to businesses and creators at all levels in the European market and beyond.”

Downtown Music Publishing already has a presence in Amsterdam, having established Downtown Music Benelux in 2014 as a joint venture with local label Cloud 9 Music. In September 2017, Downtown Benelux announced an international partnership with Sub Pop Publishing, helping the Seattle-based publisher with collecting royalties via the Songtrust for Business platform and establishing a stronger presence in the European market.
