It’s a new era for “The Voice,” with original coach Blake Shelton officially out of his red swivel chair after 23 seasons. Now, country legend Reba McEntire sits in his place, alongside coaches John Legend, Gwen Stefani and Niall Horan, who are all fighting to secure the best singers for their teams this season.
As the auditions for Season 24 continue, a recent analysis of the past 23 seasons has revealed the songs and artists that lead to the most chair turns during the audition round of “The Voice.”
The study from ActionNetwork.com, which was sent to the Deseret News, provides a look at the songs and artists that have the best success rate for contestants on “The Voice.” Here’s a breakdown of the data — and an update on how the new season is already changing some of those findings.

Per the study, which examined more than 1,000 songs from 23 seasons of blind auditions, the song with the highest success rate in “Voice” history is John Prine’s “Angel from Montgomery,” which has earned 12 chair turns over three auditions — meaning each performance of the song led to all four coaches turning their chairs.
The following three songs are tied for second place, with 10 overall chair turns each:
“All I Want,” Kodaline, performed three times.
“Dream A Little Dream of Me,” performed three times.
“Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright,” Bob Dylan, performed four times.
Below are a handful of songs that have earned a grand total of nine chair turns throughout “The Voice” auditions:
“A Song For You,” Leon Russell, performed three times.
“Best Part,” Daniel Caesar and H.E.R., performed three times.
“Bless the Broken Road,” Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, performed three times.
“Gravity,” John Mayer, performed three times.
“If I Ain’t Got You,” Alicia Keys, performed four times.
“Skinny Love,” Bon Iver, performed three times.
“When I Was Your Man,” Bruno Mars, performed three times.

According to the study, songs from Bruno Mars have garnered the most chair turns over the course of 23 seasons — a whopping 39.
Bob Dylan comes in second with 35, followed by Adele in third with 32 overall chair turns.

Talakai, a singer from California, got a two-chair turn with his performance of Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me,” ultimately earning a spot on John Legend’s team.
Singer Mara Justine also earned a spot on Legend’s team with a performance of Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” Her audition received a four-chair turn, which would bump John up several notches on the list.
Team Gwen Stefani
Singer Jason Arcilla got a two-chair turn with his rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” ultimately selecting Gwen Stefani to be his coach.
Team Niall Horan
Alexa Wildish earned a four-chair turn with her performance of Fleetwood Mac’s “Songbird.” Factoring in Arcilla’s performance of “Dreams,” this means Fleetwood Mac would now be the top third band/artist with the highest success rate, slightly edging out Adele.
Olivia Minogue earned a three-chair turn with her rendition of Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down.” Combined with Talakai’s performance of “Stay With Me,” this now makes Smith tied with Fleetwood Mac for the third most successful band artist, with a grand total of 33 chair turns.
Thirteen-year-old singer Julia Roome went with a “Voice” classic for her audition: “Dream a Little Dream of Me.” Her performance got a two-chair turn, meaning that the song now ties with “Angel from Montgomery” for highest success rate.
Team Reba McEntire
Mac Royals also went with a “Voice” classic for his audition: “Gravity.” His performance led to a four-chair turn, meaning that “Gravity” actually surpasses both “Angel from Montgomery” and “Dream a Little Dream of Me” to become the song with the highest success rate.
Tom Nitti went with Stevi Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)” for his audition, earning a chair turn from McEntire and now bumping up Wonder one spot on the list to tie with Franklin with 26 chair turns.
