Song Premiere: Lee DeWyze Casts His 'Stone'

As Season 15 of American Idol approaches this week, it’s time to look back at the once-maligned and misunderstood Idol Season 9. That season not only brought us future stars Tori Kelly, Todrick Hall, and Katie Stevens, but it of course launched the credible career of winner Lee DeWyze, who has since developed into a true Americana idol, forging his own indie-rock path. And as the singer-songwriter prepares to release his fifth full-length studio effort (and first for Shanachie Entertainment), Oil & Water, Yahoo Music’s Reality Rocks is delighted to exclusively premiere a new track from the album, “Stone.”

While not the lead single from Oil & Water – “Stone” will actually be the instant-gratification track for those who pre-order the album via iTunes – “Stone” is an impressive preview of the new LP’s lush but hushed sound, with its hymn-like vibe, majestic orchestration, and introspective lyrics.

“‘Stone’ encompasses what this album is about: honesty, self-realization, and emotions demonstrated through lyrics and harmony,” DeWyze says.
