Song Joong-Ki is a 38-year-old South Korean actor who is set to appear in an upcoming Netflix movie, My Name Is Loh Kiwan. He is best known for his roles in K-dramas like Vincenzo and Descendants of the Sun.

The actor rose to fame with a 2010 drama, Sungkyunkwan Scandal, and the variety show called Running Man. Since then, he has been unstoppable and has done incredible work in the South Korean entertainment industry. With such glaring success, he has been one of the top Hallyu stars who has twice appeared on the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list.

My Name Is Loh Kiwan

My Name Is Loh Kiwan is Song Joong-Ki’s upcoming movie on Netflix. He plays a North Korean defector, Loh Kiwan, who arrives in Belgium without any money and seeks refugee status. While fighting for the status, he meets Marie, a Korean who has received Belgian citizenship. Although their first meeting is unpleasant, they eventually fall for each other.

The Korean movie premieres on Netflix on Friday, March 1, 2024. The official synopsis reads, “After defecting from North Korea, Loh Kiwan struggles to obtain refugee status in Belgium, where he encounters a dejected woman who has lost all hope.”

Vincenzo

Vincenzo is a 2021 Song Joong-Ki’s K-drama about a South Korean-Italian mafia named Vincenzo Cassano. He returns to his homeland to teach a criminal conglomerate a lesson. During his stay, he gets involved with lawyer Hong Cha-Young (Jeon Yeo-Been) and plans to punish conglomerate Jang Jun-Woo’s (Ok Taec-Yeon) heinous crimes.

Consisting of 20 episodes, the series is available on Netflix.

Descendants of the Sun

Descendants of the Sun is a 2016 romance comedy K-drama starring Song Joong-Ki and his ex-wife Song Hye-Kyo in lead roles. It tells the story of a South Korean Special Forces soldier who falls in love with a surgeon. Both the characters have jobs that serve the common people. Through this series, the director highlights how two lovers juggle between their careers and relationships.

Available on Netflix, the K-drama is one of the award-winning series, that has helped Joong-Ki garner appreciation from all quarters.

A Werewolf Boy

A Werewolf Boy is a 2012 South Korean movie starring Park Bo-Young as Sun-Yi and Song Joong-Ki as Chul-Soo. The story revolves around an elderly woman who visits her childhood home after 50 years. She recalls her encounter with a strange boy when she was a teenage girl.

50 years ago, Sun-Yi befriends a “wolf boy” who has been practically raised by wolves in the jungle. She tries to tame him so that he can live life like a normal person. The movie is available on Netflix.

Reborn Rich

Reborn Rich is a revenge K-drama about a loyal employee and his rebirth. Yoon Hyun-Woo is a hardworking secretary of a chaebol family. He becomes the victim of the battle of succession and gets killed by an unknown member. Interestingly, he is reborn as Jin Do-Jun, the youngest son of a wealthy family.

Do-Jun decides to seek revenge and find out the murderer. He also plans to take over the family business.

Besides the movies and dramas mentioned above, Song Joong-Ki has also appeared in The Innocent Man, Hearty Paws 2, Space Sweepers, and many more. He will also make a guest appearance in Netflix’s new drama, Queen of Tears.
