Somebody Recreated Miles Morales' Epic Into The Spider-Verse Hero Moment In The New PlayStation 5 Spider-Man Game, And It's Amazing

One of the reasons that we love superhero origin stories is because there’s nothing quite like that moment when the main character becomes a hero. Sometimes it happens early in the film, and sometimes it’s what the entire story builds towards, but emotions can run wild when we see that hero moment. Quite possibly the best ever put to film is Miles Morales "leap of faith" in what may be the best Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It was an epic moment on the screen, and it’s nearly as impressive on a PlayStation 5.

The highly anticipated sequel to Insomniac’s excellent Spider-Man video game came out last weekend, and one fan took things to an entirely new level when, with a bit of music and editing, he recreated the iconic “What’s Up Danger?” sequence from Into the Spider-Verse in the PlayStation game. It may not be Superior, but it is just as Amazing and equally Spectacular. Check it out.

I love everything about this. Apparently the one shot you couldn’t recreate in-game is the one where Miles is falling straight down, but the shot is inverted to make it look like he’s flying up rather than falling. Everything else looks near perfect. From the first panicked and flailing limbs to when Miles gets under control and begins to swing through the city. It’s incredibly well put together, and the game's own ability to have Miles pull off tricks, once he's comfortable, only adds to the experience.

While there is some obvious editing necessary to make this sequence work as much like it did in Into the Spider-Verse as possible, what’s impressive is the amount of editing we don’t see. Much of the sequence is done in long takes without cuts. It may have taken several tries to get everything just right, but it's all worth it.

The new Spider-Man 2 has been highly anticipated since the previous Spider-Man game became a fan favorite and the Spider-Man: Miles Morales spinoff continued to let players live out their web-slinging dreams. The new game lets players take on the role of both Peter Parker and Miles, so you get to play your favorite Spidey, whomever that is... unless you’re a Gwen Stacy fan. I guess Ghost Spider fans will have to wait until the next game.

We are certainly living at a time of peak Spider-Man, with the character existing all over the place, but the amazing thing is that from live-action films to animated films to video games, the quality of the material has been incredibly good. When the fans get ahold of it, they just elevate it even more it seems.

Honestly, I may need to pick up a PlayStation 5 just so I can play the new Spider-Man game. I reviewed the last Spider-Man game and found it near-perfect. This just makes me want to play the whole game with the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack blasting.  Or I may just go watch all the Spider-Man movies streaming.
