Watch Aziz Ansari Give Props to his 'Amazing' Immigrant Parents in His Netflix Stand-Up Special

Some kids just give their parents “World’s Best Mom/Dad” coffee mugs as a sign of affection. Aziz Ansari used his Madison Square Garden stand-up set to pay tribute to his mother and father, Indian immigrants who met via an arranged marriage and settled in South Carolina.

This exclusive four-minute clip from Ansari’s new comedy special, Aziz Ansari: Live at Madison Square Garden, which premieres on Netflix on March 6, finds the former Parks and Recreation star reflecting on their immigrant experience with genuine respect… and, of course, irreverent humor. “Pretty amazing thing our parents did,” Ansari says, acknowledging that his own generation probably wouldn’t have the courage and fortitude to survive as new arrivals on these shores. “I’m not going to have any struggles to tell my kids about. What’s my story going to be, like, ‘Oh son, once when I was flying from New York to L.A., my iPad died!’”

Hey, no judgment here Aziz. Considering the state of in-flight entertainment these days, a dead iPad qualifies as a legitimate struggle.
