Sold-out shows? Why you shouldn't wait to buy PNC Broadway in Louisville 2024-25 tickets
Tim Burton's "Beetlejuice" opens Tuesday, May 14 at the Kentucky Center, 501 W. Main St. and as the curtain falls on the eight show run, the 2023-24 Season of PNC Broadway in Louisville comes to a close.
"Beetlejuice" tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager whose life changes when she meets a recently deceased couple and a demon with a thing for stripes. With an irreverent book, an astonishing set, and a score out of this world, "Beetlejuice" is a remarkably touching show about family, love, and making the most of every "Day-O!"
This has been an incredibly successful season for the PNC series, which, in addition to "Beetlejuice," included "SIX," "Wicked," "Tina — The Tina Turner Musical," "Frozen," and "Clue."
"Broadway series subscriptions were near record-high this current season and are already soaring for the 2024-25 season," said Leslie Broecker, president of PNC Broadway in Louisville. "With more theatre enthusiasts securing their seats for the upcoming season than ever before, it's crucial for everyone eager to experience the magic of Broadway to act fast and purchase their season tickets now. By securing your season subscription, you guarantee yourself the best seats in the house for each performance and all the benefits that come along with it."
With many of the current season's shows reporting sold-out performances, it seems the challenges of the post-COVID-19 pandemic, a time when crowds were still hesitant to return to the theater, may be over.
According to the Broadway League, which tracks ticket sales on a national level, the 2022-23 season on Broadway reached pre-pandemic levels. A total of 88.4% of Broadway show seats were filled in the 2022-23 season, the League’s statement said. That’s comparable to the 89.7% in the 2018-2019 run, which was the last full season pre-COVID.
Louisville has experienced a similar return to the theater during its 2023-24 season. When the 2024-25 season was announced earlier this year, only current subscribers were eligible for subscription renewal, and new subscribers were put on a waitlist.
That doesn't mean subscriptions for the next season are unattainable. According to the PNC Broadway in Louisville website, 2024-25 season subscriptions are still available, but maybe you shouldn't delay. The 2024-25 PNC Broadway in Louisville season is chock-full of blockbusters including the world's most popular musical "Les Misérables," plus "Moulin Rouge! The Musical," "The Wiz," "Peter Pan" "& Juliet," "Shucked," and "Mamma Mia!" as a season option.
"We work very hard to bring a great mix of shows that will hit a chord with our audiences," Broecker said previously. "It's a mix of familiar, perennial favorites like 'Les Miserable' and 'Mamma Mia,' and the unknown or brand new shows like 'Shucked' and '& Juliet' which make a season an exciting mix for our audience."
In addition to accommodating a full house for the majority of the season, Broecker is pleased to announce the series has tweaked start times for the 2024-25 PNC Broadway in Louisville season in response to customer suggestions.
"We surveyed our subscribers and when we got the surveys back, there was an overwhelming request to start shows earlier," Broecker previously told the Courier Journal. "So starting with the new season, we will shift performances on Tuesday through Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday evening performances will now start at 7:30 p.m. Matinee show times will remain the same, with Saturdays at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 and 6:30 p.m."
