Solange is ready to share her latest work with the world, as the Houston native took to social media Thursday (Jan. 11) to reveal In Service To Whom, a performance art exhibit that originally took place in 2023.

“In Service to Whom (2023), 84 minutes, A four-act performance, Sound, Video projection, Scenography, Archival Collection, 24 screens, 4 channels,” she described of the new creative work. “As I contemplate the evolution and maturation of my artistry, “In Service To Whom” was developed around constructing new narratives surrounding my body, the posture of rest, protection from the gaze, and speaks to a reemergence into the world of everyday life following periods of personal incubation and self-revitalization.”

The singer’s website offers more information, revealing the performance incorporated “orchestral works composed by the artist between 2018 and 2023 (“Villanelle For Times,” “God Rest Your,” “Bridge-s,” and “In Past Pupils and Smiles”), alongside her contemporary music. These compositions were inspired by repetition, gospel vocal arrangements, minimalism, and the Black southern marching band music of football games frequented by the artist in her hometown of Houston, Texas.”

In Service To Whom follows the A Seat At The Table artist’s 2019 performance at the 58th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale de Venezia titled In Past Pupils and Smiles. In 2022, the songstress commemorated the program with a 188-page art book.

Solange also made her debut as a ballet composer in 2022 at the New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala, with big sis Beyoncé praising the star for her artistic endeavors.

“My beloved sister, there are no words to express the pride and admiration I have for you,” the “Break My Soul” singer, 41, wrote. “You are a visionary and one of one. Congratulations on being the first African American woman to compose for the New York City Ballet. The piece you composed is phenomenal. I love you deep. Might I suggest you don’t f*** with my sis.”
