Solange Announces She 'Parted Ways' With Husband Alan Ferguson

Solange Knowles almost made it to her 5th wedding anniversary before announcing she and her husband have called it quits.

The younger sister of Beyoncé revealed the news Friday, the morning after Halloween.

Alongside some photos of the star, Solange announced that she and husband Alan Ferguson have been separated for months.

She first began describing how the past couple of years have brought personal change.

"The past 2 years have brought me more physical and spiritual transition and evolution than ever beforemy body left me with no choice but to listen and be stillwithin that stillness i begin my journey in confronting my worst enemy, fear.ive lived my best and worst moments in front of the lens and gaze of the world since i was a teenager. ive always tried to live in my truth no matter how ugly or full of love it is. ive also tried to carve out the space to protect my heart, and my life as it unfolds, evolves, and changes."

Solange continued:

"11 years ago i met a phenomenal man who changed every existence of my life. early this year we separated and parted ways, (and tho it ain’t nan no body business 😭) i find it necessary to protect the sacredness of my personal truth and to live in it fully just as I have before and will continue to do. it is unfair to not have power of your own story as you shape and mold and rewrite it yourself. a ni--a ain’t perfect, but im leaning into the fear of the unknown and all the glory and power i know exist within god and the universes grace. may all of your transitions no matter how big or small, be kind to you and filled with incredible love and light!"

Solange and Alan tied the knot on November 16, 2014 at the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The ceremony was attended by Jay-Z and Beyoncé and even included a second-line parade that marched down the streets of New Orleans following the nuptials.

Ferguson is a music video director and even co-directed the two hit singles from Solange's 2016 album, "Cranes in the Sky" and "Don't Touch My Hair."

Solange has been married once before, when she was 17 years old.

On February 27, 2004 Solange married 19-year-old Daniel Smith.

She gave birth to their son, Daniel Smith, Jr. on October 18, 2004.

The family soon moved to Idaho, where Smith attended college.

In 2007, Solange confirmed that she and Smith had divorced and were co-parenting their son.

The star has described her son as the greatest "unplanned" blessing ever, but has expressed regret over having a child at such a young age.
