SOFTBALL: Science & Arts earns No. 6 spot in preseason poll
Nov. 3—The University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma softball team will enter the 2024 season in familiar territory.
Despite the season still being a little bit down the road, the NAIA's preseason softball rankings are out. And the Drovers find themselves in a spot they have been in quite a bit over the past several seasons.
Science & Arts is in the top 10.
A softball powerhouse, being in the top 10 is nothing new for a Drover program that has reached the peak of the softball mountain. Coming in at No. 6 in the preseason rankings, Science & Arts is the top-ranked team from the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Science & Arts picked up 449 points in the poll, just one point behind the fifth-ranked team. The Drovers came in just three points behind the fourth-ranked team.
The Drovers are once again looking to compete for a national championship after advancing to the NAIA Softball World Series and ending up No. 10 in the NAIA's final poll in 2023.
Science & Arts fought through quite a bit of adversity in 2023 and ended up winning the conference tournament, defeating Oklahoma City University in the championship game.
The Drovers then swept through the Opening Round in the national tournament to secure a spot at the World Series before losing a pair of one-run games. Science & Arts went 42-15 last season.
