Sofia Vergara Granted Permanent 5-year Restraining Order Against ‘Violent’ Stalker

Sofia Vergara and her son can now feel relieved as they have been granted a permanent restraining order against a violent felon who was stalking the Hollywood actress.

According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, the stalker was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Vergara and her son Manolo Gonzalez as well as their workplaces.

On Wednesday, the "Modern Family" star was granted a five-year permanent restraining order in response to her November 22, 2023 petition for civil harassment. The protective order will expire expire on December 12, 2028.

The stalker, whose name we have withheld, was ordered to "stay at least 100 yards away from the protected person, Home of the protected person, The job or workplace of the protected person, Vehicle of the protected person, The additional protected persons." 

Vergara's son is the additional protected person in the case. The person must also not "Harass, intimidate, molest, attack, strike, stalk, threaten, assault (sexually or otherwise), hit abuse, destroy the personal property of, or disturb the peace of the person."

He is not allowed to contact Vergara and her family through any means or take any action to obtain the actress and her son's location.

The Blast broke the news that the Colombian actress was granted a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) days ago when she opened up about the intimidation she suffered at the hands of this person.

In her filing, the actress claimed the stalker is "a violent felon, on parole related to prior stalking of (Vergara), convicted of trespass and vandalism of her home." She alleged that in July the person trespassed on her property, seeking access to her and yelling a disturbing message.

Most recently, in Nov 2023, he mailed a disturbing letter to her home. Vergara claimed the stranger who "is a mentally unstable stalker, with a long-time fixation" on her "delusionally believes he personally knows her and has a romantic and familial relationship with her and her son, which he does not."

The court documents mention that the stalker had on multiple occasions asserted that Vergara "belongs" to him, resulting in him engaging in "stalking and unwanted and unsolicited attempted personal contact of (Sofia), seeking access to her and her son."

Vergara's legal team detailed the stalker's harassment pattern, highlighting that he "repeatedly" travels" to the gated guarded community, obtaining unauthorized access into the community, trespassing, and appearing uninvited at their property seeking to gain access into the residence and to her [Vergara.]"

The 51-year-old alleged that the man had been intimidating her since July 2021 when he was arrested for trespassing and vandalizing her residence. During the incident, he defaced her house and "spray-painted disturbing messages."

He was subsequently convicted for charges related to the conduct and sentenced to serve 32 months in state prison. He was released from prison in 2023, but that didn't alleviate the issue. Despite getting released on parole, the man was re-arrested for subsequent crimes, and eventually "released on or about July 1, 2023."

Vergara, who declared the stalker made her fearful, told the court, that he "has repeatedly sought to have personal contact with me and insert himself into my personal and private life. He has engaged in stalking and harassment directed at me, which is seriously alarming, annoying, and harassing me. As a result of his conduct directed at me, including, as referenced below, I am in fear of (him) for my personal safety and that of those around me."

The 'Modern Family' Star Is Close To Ending Divorce Proceeding

Vergara's granted restraining order comes as her divorce proceeding with ex-husband Joe Manganiello is wrapping up.

Last month, we reported that the mother-of-one and the "Magic Mike" star were close to ending their divorce after Vergara filed a declaration of disclosure, telling the court she had turned over all of her financial information to Manganiello.

Usually in celebrity divorce cases, this is the last filing before a settlement is reached, and the two parties go their separate ways. As you can imagine, having all the financial information is key for two parties to figure out what a settlement or spousal support will look like in a case.

In the case of Vergara and Manganiello, they have an iron-clad prenuptial agreement, meaning there is possibly a clear outline of how their assets and finances would be split.

The former couple announced their separation after seven years of marriage in July.
