More than a year after getting married, Sofia Richie announced via Instagram the birth of her first child with husband Elliot Grainge, writing it’s the “best day of my life.”

The 25-year-old model, who shared the news on May 24, 2024, also revealed the baby’s name: Eloise Samantha Grainge.

The black-and-white photo of the baby’s little feet received tons of heartwarming comments, including from people who were loving the name. Some pointed out the connection to Eloise Bridgerton, a character on the popular series Bridgerton.

Sure, Richie and her husband could be Bridgerton fans, but the name Eloise has been around long before the Netflix show. It fell out of popularity though in the mid ’60s and made a return around 2008, according to the Social Security Administration (SSA). Book fans may make a connection to the Eloise children's books series written by Kay Thompson in the '50s.

As for Samantha, that’s been a pretty popular name in America since the ‘60s, and appeared more trendy than ever in the ‘90s, according to SSA. Kim Cattrall also brought much attention to the name through her beloved character in the HBO hit Sex and the City, which is now on Netflix.

Samantha is also the name of Grainge's late mother, who suffered complications when giving birth to him. She remained in a coma until passing in 2007, according to People.

Here are all the baby name details:

For those into horoscopes, Richie revealed her baby would be a Gemini when she announced her pregnancy in a January 2024 interview with Vogue. She's on the Taurus-Gemini cusp, but if the baby is anything like a Gemini, she’ll need a lot of mental stimulation and be a great communicator. And only time will tell if baby Eloise will be musically inclined like her record executive dad and famous grandpa, Lionel Richie!
