Sofia Coppola is turning back time to celebrate her friend — and longtime muse — Kirsten Dunst.

On April 30, Dunst turned 42, and Coppola celebrated the actress with a throwback (and previously unseen!) photo of the star on Instagram.

In the photo, which the Priscilla director, 52, said was captured in Paris in 2005 — likely when the pair were working on Marie Antoinette — Dunst dances, mouth agape, while sporting an ultra-short bob and hot-pink lip.

“Happy Birthday Kirsten,” Coppola wrote in the caption, and Dunst returned the love with several heart emojis.

In the comments section, fans of the director asked the pair — who have collaborated on several films — to work together again.

Dunst and Coppola first joined forces in 1999 coming of age drama The Virgin Suicides. Based on the Jeffrey Eugenides’ novel of the same name, the cult classic also starred Josh Hartnett and Criminal Minds star A.J. Cook.

The director-actress duo also teamed up for Coppola’s Marie Antoinette in 2006 — which starred Dunst as the titular queen — and 2017’s The Beguiled, which also starred Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning.

And, in 2013, Dunst made an appearance in Coppola’s crime-comedy The Bling Ring.

Widely regarded as Coppola’s muse, particularly during her early directing days, Dunst recently passed the torch to her Civil War costar, Cailee Spaeny, for 2023 film Priscilla.

The 25-year-old portrayed Priscilla Presley in the Coppola-directed adaptation of Elvis and Me — which starred Jacob Elordi as Elvis Presley — and Dunst said she had an emotional reaction when Spaeny was first cast in the role.

In March, Spaeny, who previously described Dunst as a mentor, told PEOPLE that she secured the lead part in Priscilla on the last day she and Dunst filmed Civil War together.

"So I got to tell her that I got the role and she burst into tears and gave me a massive hug,” the up-and-coming actress told PEOPLE. “It was a really special, magical, kismet moment.”
