Sofía Vergara & Joe Manganiello's Divorce Papers Reveal This Surprising Detail About Their Marriage

In mid-July 2023, Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello announced their split in a joint statement, and by Feb. 9, 2024, the couple was officially divorced. In a year that was fraught with high-profile, A-list breakups, the former couple did a great job of keeping their drama out of the headlines. They honored their prenuptial agreement and went their separate ways.
Now that the judge has signed off on their divorce agreement, there is one curious detail that gives fans a bit of insight into the seven-year marriage. Page Six obtained the judgment and revealed how the now-divorced duo split up their marital property. Per their prenup, the Magic Mike star kept his jewelry, clothing, and other “miscellaneous personal effects.” He also walked away with his “earnings and accumulations” that were granted after the couple’s official separation date: July 2, 2023.

Vergara was also given all of her personal items and earnings since they went their separate ways. But there was one tiny detail that probably made all the difference in their divorce that was noted in the documents — the Modern Family star and Manganiello never shared “any community property” between them. When they bought a $26 million Beverly Park estate, it was Vergara’s name on the deed. There was nothing to fight over — what was his, remained his, and what was hers, remained hers.
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” Manganiello and Vergara’s joint statement read. “As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.” The 51-year-old actress later revealed to El País why their marriage ended in a very frank interview.
“Well, I’m newly divorced from my second husband, who I was with for 10 years. My marriage broke up because my husband was younger,” she said. “He wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom.” Manganiello is currently 48 years old, so there were only a few years between them, but Vergara had her son, Manolo, in 1991. “I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore,” she noted. “I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother.”
