Social Media Reacts to Kylie Jenner Lamenting Animals Killed in Australian Bush Fire, Only to Wear Mink Fur

Kylie Jenner is known for posting about her lavish and extravagant lifestyle on social media, whether that's the makeup mogul in front of a rare and expensive vehicle or wearing clothes from some of the world's finest designers.

The latter has created quite the uproar on social media for her perceived hypocrisy regarding the death of animals in the Australian wildfire tragedy. Just recently, Jenner posted a heartfelt message about how the fires are affecting the native animals of Australia, only to post a picture of herself wearing animal fur.

Kylie Showing Hypocrisy in Instagram Posts

Posting to her Instagram story, Jenner shared an image of a firefighter carrying a koala as fires roar in the background of the picture. Jenner shared the caption, "this breaks my heart".

Not long after, Jenner once again posted to Instagram, but this time, it was a picture of her Louis Vuitton pink mink fur slippers with the caption, "Baby pink toes", referencing her toenail polish color.

This infuriated people on social media, who were quick to call her a hypocrite for attempting to show empathy for the countless animals that have died in the Australian wildfires, only to wear animal fur that would indicate the killing of others for her vain and stylistic purposes.

Social Media Calls Out Kylie for Instagram Posts

One user took to social media to condemn her hypocrisy saying, " don’t understand how Kylie Jenner can post about the poor animals dying in the Australian fires and then two snaps later post a picture of her wearing real mink fur shoes."

"Seeing kylie jenner post about the koalas being killed by the fires in australia followed by a picture of her wearing mink sandals on her instagram story really made me realize the extent to which the kardashian family’s stupidity reaches,' another lamented.

Yet, a third posted, "kylie jenner was really on her story crying about animals dying in australia and then proceeded to post a pic of mink fur slippers i- idk about that one."

Some Coming to Her Defense, Diet Versus Wearing

While most of the reactions on social media condemned the Kylie Cosmetics owner, others came out to defend her and the cognitive dissonance that surrounds the whole idea of why we kill animals at all, i.e., food.

"Kylie jenner posted a story about how sad it was that animals were dying (which is great to share with her followers), followed by a photo of her mink slippers and bacon breakfast. our collective cognitive dissonance and selective compassion needs to stop," said one Twitter user.

Another commented, "No no no, don’t come for Kylie Jenner for wearing mink slides if you’re still out here eating meat! Y’all don’t get to pretend to 'Love all animals' at the expense of the rich."

One of the Worst Tragedies in Australian History

Australia has seen its fair share of wildfires, as the country can be naturally arid and dry, but this year, there has been an unprecedented amount of them as a result of temperatures that have soared, alongside a long drought, creating favorable conditions for wildfires to ignite.

To exacerbate the problem, winds have acted to spread the fire faster than can be controlled, leading to a nightmare of a situation that has killed 20 people. Countless animals have also died, with many more being forced out of their homes. The problem has become so severe that mandatory evacuations of the whole town and cities have been initiated.
