Snoop Dogg shared multiple heartfelt tributes to his mother Beverly Tate following her death at age 70 on Sunday, October 24.
The news was first shared by Snoop’s father Vernella Varnado, who asked for prayers during this difficult time. "Snoops mom has passed today can all my fans pray for our family we need it more than ever," Varnado wrote from his @PoppaSnoop account. The 50-year-old rapper has since shared a series of posts on Instagram dedicated to his late mother, an author and evangelist.
“Mama thank u for having me,” he wrote in his first post following her death, accompanied by a photo of them together. In his second post, he added, “Thank u god for giving me an angel for a mother. TWMA.” Dwayne Johnson was among those to share condolences in the comments. “I’m so sorry Uso,” wrote Johnson. “All our Johnson love and mana sent you and your family’s way.” Heidi Klum, Busta Rhymes, Cardi B, and LL Cool J also shared their support for the rapper.
“Poor mother!” wrote Martha Stewart, a close collaborator and friend of Snoop’s. “I am so sorry that you have suffered such a grievous loss Snoop. May she rest in peace.”
In further posts, Snoop Dogg shared a video of himself listening to music in a dark room with a broken-heart emoji in the caption. He then followed it up with a screenshot of a note that simply read, “Till. We. Meet. Again.”
Throughout her life, Tate published a series of books including 2012’s Real Love. She was hospitalized earlier this year but it was not revealed why. Her cause of death has not been revealed.
